This tutorial shows the detailed windings of a coil represented by 1D line elements and how they deform due to an outside magnetic field. While the first solution in the already completed model shows the usual method with air mesh, the second solution shows the Biot-Savart law to solve the model without the need for an air mesh.
The above picture shows left the 1D coil (green) with a spring shape and two coils (white) responsible for the outside magnetic field. The right side of the picture shows the resulting lorentz forces. These forces are then further used for a transient elasticity simulation.
This model is completely set up with all necessary features. A good idea for learning would be to start from the CAD model (in folder ’start’) and set up the whole model.
